Major Announcement: Justin Scripps Departure

Following almost six years of dedication and service to the Club, Glenelg Football Club Chief Executive Officer, Justin Scripps, has made the decision to step down from the role in early 2026.

Scripps has been influential at the Bays, proudly leading the Club though its most successful era in its 100-year history.

During his time as CEO, Scripps ensured that the Club strengthened its men’s, women’s and junior football programs, deepened community connection, and restored its reputation across the SANFL and broader football community.

President David Whelan said the Board is grateful for Scripps’ leadership and guidance, which included oversight of on-field success as well as significant organisational renewal.

“Justin’s time as CEO will be remembered as a period where the Club not only achieved success on the field but also reconnected strongly with its people and its purpose,” he said.

“Justin has cared deeply about our players, coaches, staff, volunteers and members, and that is evident in the culture we have at the Bays today.

“Change in leadership is a natural part of any club’s journey, and this decision reflects a shared belief that Glenelg is well placed for its next phase. Justin has set the Club up for future, sustained success. We are incredibly grateful for his service and the way he has always put the Club first. He leaves the club in a stronger position and will always be part of the Glenelg family.”

Reflecting on his decision, Scripps said:

“Having been part of this Club for most of my adult life, the opportunity to serve as CEO has been both exceptionally rewarding and incredibly demanding. As CEO, I’ve tried to play my part in supporting the people who make this place special. To witness the impact of our success on our players, coaches, staff, volunteers, fans and community is something I will always cherish.

“The memories from this period will stay with me forever, but it feels like the right moment for new leadership, fresh energy and a new voice to guide the Club through the next four or five years. I remain deeply grateful for the trust placed in me and for the privilege of contributing to a Club that means so much to me and so many.”

The Board and Glenelg Football Club would like to thank Justin for his contributions, and wish him, Vanessa, Zane and Macy the very best of luck in the future.

Justin will remain in the role of CEO until 21 January 2026. A process to recruit a new CEO will commence early in the new year.
