CEO Leadership Update

Statement from Glenelg Football Club President, David Whelan

As previously advised, Justin will conclude his tenure as Chief Executive Officer on 21 January 2026. On behalf of the Board, I would like to again sincerely thank Justin for his leadership, dedication and service to the Glenelg Football Club. Justin has led the Club through a period of significant activity and growth, and his commitment to all areas of our organisation has been deeply valued. We are grateful for his professionalism, care for the club, and the strong foundations he leaves in place.

Given the timing of this transition and the operational demands as we move into the 2026 season, the Board has determined it is in the Club’s best interests to appoint an Interim Chief Executive Officer. This approach provides stability, clear accountability and continuity of leadership.

I am pleased to advise that Brigid Koenig has agreed to step into the role of Interim CEO. Brigid is a current Director of the Club and is already well known to many within our community. She brings strong executive leadership capability, commercial and governance experience, and a values-led, people-focused approach. Brigid has a proven track record of leading community organisations, building strong stakeholder relationships and supporting teams through periods of transition, and she is well placed to provide steady leadership during this time.

Brigid has already started to work closely with Justin and the team to ensure a smooth and orderly handover. She will officially take up the role of Interim CEO from the end of January 2026, while we look at options to recruit to the role.

On behalf of the Board, thank you for your continued support and commitment to the Glenelg Football Club. As a Club, we remain focused on stability, sustainability, continuity and positioning the Club strongly as we head into the 2026 season.
