A statement from David Whelan
Dear Sponsors and Bays Supporters,
I am writing to share an important leadership update for the Glenelg Football Club.
As you may recall, in January we appointed Brigid Koenig as Interim Chief Executive Officer. It gives me great pleasure to now formally confirm Brigid’s appointment as Chief Executive Officer on an ongoing basis, marking an exciting new chapter for our Club.
During her time as Interim CEO, Brigid has brought stability, clear accountability and strong leadership, alongside new energy, ideas and momentum. Many of you will have already connected with Brigid, and I know her genuine commitment to the Club and her ability to build strong, trusted relationships has been both evident and well received.
Coupled with her proven track record of leading community organisations, strong commercial experience, and her ability to build meaningful stakeholder relationships, the Board has great confidence that under Brigid’s leadership, the Club is on a clear and positive path forward. Brigid brings a values-led approach and a genuine ability to connect people, which will be critical as we continue to grow both on and off the field.
With the 2026 League season commencing this weekend, our annual 10K at the Bay on Good Friday, the SA v VIC State Games and Gather Round activity, along with the start of the SANFLW season all within the next month, this appointment provides stability and certainty as we head into an important and busy period for the Club.
On behalf of the Board, thank you for your continued support and commitment to the Glenelg Football Club. We value the role you play in our community and look forward to continuing to build strong partnerships together.
I look forward to connecting with you at one of our upcoming events. In the meantime, please don’t hesitate to reach out to either Brigid or me directly if you would like to discuss anything further.
Go the Bays!
David Whelan
