Talia’s Talking Points | Round 3

Round 3 saw us take on Norwood at Norwood Oval in the 5pm timeslot in the SANFL’s first ‘Energised’ Round where all 4 games take place at the one venue.

We welcomed club debutant Brooklyn Kraft, who started the game well for us with a smart inside 50 hit up to Kori Webb on the lead. Kori converted truly in the first 3 minutes of the game from a set shot and continued her excellent growth in her 6^th game of league footy (16 disposals, 1 goal, 5 tackles).

The game was collectively, a really disappointing effort from our group. We were comprehensively beaten in the contest, finishing with minus 33 contested possession, minus 20 ground ball gets, and were constantly second to the footy.

Our backline dug deep and locked down as much as they possibly could with Norwood’s dominance in clearance, and first possession.

We had solid performances from Isla Wiencke (26 disp, 20 contested, 8 tackles) and Georgie Fielder (23 disp, 6 marks) as they battled hard up and down the ground.

We feel the weekend’s loss is a ‘line in the sand’ moment for us. It provides a reality check about what we need to do to get better and constantly improve and grow.

We face Centrals at Elizabeth late on Saturday afternoon – a great chance for us to move forward.
