PROUDLY BROUGHT TO YOU BY CONCEPT DATA
A great occasion at Stratarama Stadium again on Saturday, where we were brilliantly supported by the Tiger Army who showed up in strong numbers to cheer all three of our senior teams on in a celebration of First Nations Round. A strong win from our Reserves side was followed by a determined performance from our League team, but ultimately we were left bitterly disappointed not to come away with the win. While we acknowledge and respect our opponents, we felt we created enough opportunities to get the result. However, a lack of finishing in key moments, combined with conceding a few relatively easy goals, proved costly in the end.
Adelaide’s aerial presence caused us some concerns early in the game and saw Karl Finlay move from attack to defence to bolster our talls. In the second quarter we performed strongly from clearance, but failed to capitalise on our forward entries with a number of near misses. By contrast, Adelaide were more efficient going forward and capitalised directly from several kick-ins, taking a nine-point lead into half-time.
Our last quarters have been consistently strong and to the players credit they again rallied to hit the lead. However, we were unable to close out the game with Adelaide’s aerial presence resulting in two quick goals. A frenetic finish followed as we pressed forward in the last three minutes but without reward.
The players recognised the outstanding performance of Corey Lyons across the game with the Stripes Award, while the past players acknowledged Lachie Hosie and Cam McGree. We look forward to our next challenge against North Adelaide at Prospect next Sunday for the Sandland Cup – and hope to see the Bays faithful out there supporting our teams.
