Roar on the Border to Bring State-League Footy to Regional South Australia in 2026

Glenelg Football Club (SANFL) and Coburg Football Club (VFL) are proud to announce Roar on the Border, a major football showcase coming to the Limestone Coast over the March long weekend in 2026.

In a rare interstate showdown, the first SANFL vs VFL clash between the clubs since 1978, Glenelg and Coburg will meet in Mount Gambier for a blockbuster community event celebrating regional football, local talent, and the strong pathways connecting country footy to state-league competition.

Returning to Glenelg’s Southeast catchment zone, the event reinforces the clubs’ commitment to connect with the region and highlight the role local players, families, and football communities continue to play in shaping the SANFL and VFL.

The Roar on the Border weekend will feature a full program of activities designed to engage supporters, families, and football lovers from across the region, including:

• Sportsman’s Dinner: An opportunity for the community to hear from players and coaching staff from both clubs.

• Headline Match between Glenelg and Coburg: A state-league clash between SANFL and VFL opponents, accompanied by a Southeast curtain-raiser featuring junior local talent.

• Junior Footy Clinics: Free sessions across Mount Gambier and surrounding towns by Glenelg Football Club, supporting the next generation of players and strengthening grassroots participation.
