Talia’s Talking Points | Round 7

PROUDLY BROUGHT TO YOU BY CONCEPT DATA

Saturday was a great day off-field at the Bay as we acknowledged our 2021 SANFLW Premiership side as they came together to celebrate their 5-year reunion.
Unfortunately, our on-field performance did not stack up to our own expectations. A very slow, passive start, was marred by skill execution errors. We found ourselves three goals down at quarter time. South Adelaide are a clinical unit, with experience and class across all lines and we allowed them to score unanswered goals as we were unable to adjust our position or intensity at contest.
We were able to regroup at half time and perform with much improved contested ball, winning more clearances and keeping the footy in our front half. Kori Webb led the way with 9 contested possessions (finishing with 15 overall as she continues to develop as an important midfielder for us in her 10th league game, making the most of opportunities at stoppages while we manage several injuries to our midfield). We equalised the third quarter and then won the final quarter by one point thanks to a late goal from Kiana Lee.
Congratulations to our Co-Captain, Asha Dufour, in her 50th game, who fought hard throughout the game and was one of our better performers, finishing with 23 disposals.
This week is a mid-season bye – a pivotal moment as we hit the halfway mark of the SANFLW season and find ways to improve going forward.
